Description
Crveni Otok
A Blue Flag island beach accessible by boat — rocky and pebble shores, naturist areas, and a hotel for guests seeking island seclusion.
Crveni Otok (Red Island) is actually two islands — Sveti Andrija and Maškin — connected by a causeway, about 15 minutes by boat from Rovinj's harbour. The beaches here hold a Blue Flag certification and offer a genuine island escape.
The main island (Sveti Andrija) has organised rocky and pebble beaches with full facilities — showers, toilets, loungers, parasols, a restaurant, bar, and water sports. A hotel on the island provides extended services for its guests, though the beaches are open to all day visitors arriving by boat.
Maškin island, connected by a short causeway, is wilder and includes naturist (FKK) sections. The smaller coves here offer more privacy and are ideal for those seeking peace. A diving centre operates on the island.
The beaches are suitable for children, with calm, shallow areas on the sheltered eastern side. The western coast is rockier and more exposed, popular with cliff jumpers and snorkelers. Boats run regularly from Rovinj harbour during summer.
