Rovinj Live Webcams

Rovinj right now — the Old Town, the main square and the beach.

Six live cameras cover the most photographed corners of Rovinj — the Old Town peninsula, the main square from three angles, Balbi's Arch and Borik Beach. Use them to check the weather, gauge how busy the cafés are, plan your next move from our things-to-do guide, or just stare at the Adriatic from wherever you are.

All streams are provided free by WhatsUpCams and update continuously during daylight. Click any camera to open the live stream.

Trg Maršala Tita — Main Square

Rovinj's open-air living room. Trg Maršala Tita is the big waterfront square where the town meets the harbour — café terraces line the quay, the ferry pier sits to one side, and on summer evenings the whole square turns into a slow promenade.

This is also where almost every major public event happens: summer concerts, festivals, feast-day celebrations and New Year's Eve. Check the Rovinj events calendar before you watch — if there's something scheduled, the square will look very different in the evening.

Watch for the small ferries loading for Sveta Katarina and Crveni Otok from Mali Mol, and — on Friday and Saturday evenings in July and August — wedding processions coming down from the bell tower at Sveta Eufemija.

If you're using this camera to gauge crowd levels: 9pm in May or September is Rovinj at its best — lived-in but not packed. In midsummer the square is still full at midnight. For the full breakdown of what to expect month by month, see our best time to visit Rovinj guide.

Balbi's Arch — Old Town Gate

The Balbi Arch, built in 1680 on the site of the original town gate, is the main pedestrian entrance to the Old Town. Above it a Venetian lion keeps watch, and just to the left you can see the clock tower that marks the edge of the main square.

This is the busiest foot-traffic cam in Rovinj: nearly everyone who walks into the Old Town passes under this arch, and Grisia — the stone-paved street lined with artists' studios that climbs toward the bell tower — begins a few steps inside. If you want to follow the route the people in frame are walking, see our Old Town walking guide.

For an empty, moody frame of the arch itself, look before 8am or after 11pm. On Sunday mornings during mass the area briefly thins as people head up to Sveta Eufemija at the top of the hill.

Main Square — Café Terraces & Clock Tower

A second angle on Trg Maršala Tita, this time looking across the café terraces with the clock tower visible in the right corner. The main action in frame is the foot-traffic moving toward and away from the square and the tables along the quay filling up through the day.

Pair this view with the wider main-square camera above: between the two, you get a complete read on how busy Rovinj actually is right now. If the terraces in this frame are full and the square beyond is packed, you are looking at peak summer evening.

Don't expect golden-hour light here — the square sits hemmed in by buildings and the sun sets on the other side of town, so by late afternoon this frame is in shade. Best time to look is early evening once the cafés get going and the street lamps come on.

Rovinj Harbour — Rotating Camera

A rotating (PTZ) camera that pans slowly across the harbour and cycles through several angles, so what you see depends on when you look. Over the course of a cycle, expect views of the main square and Mali Mol pier, the long Veliki Mol breakwater, and the outer harbour with Sveta Katarina close by and Banjole islet in the distance.

If the frame isn't the one you want, wait a minute or two — it will move on. Watch for people walking the piers, light boat traffic passing through the harbour, and — now and then — events in front of the Batana House (Kuća o batani), the Old Town museum dedicated to Rovinj's wooden fishing boats and its UNESCO-listed intangible heritage.

About the two islands that turn up in the wider frames: Sveta Katarina is the nearer one, with a small resort and short walking trails; Banjole, further out, is the smaller uninhabited islet that people usually ask about — both part of Rovinj's 22-island archipelago.

Borik Beach

Borik is a bay on the northern side of town — a pebble-and-rock beach backed by pines, roughly a 30-minute walk from the centre (or a short drive). It's quieter than the Punta Corrente beaches to the south and catches the morning sun well.

This camera also captures the Old Town silhouette in the distance across the bay, with Figarola island visible in frame — one of the outer islets of Rovinj's 22-island archipelago. On clear days the bell tower of St. Euphemia is unmistakable on the horizon.

Swimmers appear from roughly the second week of May until early October (locals wait until mid-June before calling the sea warm). Off-season, this camera is the best quick read on the Adriatic's mood: flat silver water means no wind and good visibility; whitecaps mean the bora or jugo is up and swimming is poor.

Old Town Panorama

A long-distance wide shot of the whole peninsula — red-tiled roofs climbing to the 61-metre bell tower of St. Euphemia. It's the postcard composition Rovinj is known for, even if the camera sits far enough back that detail is modest. Use it for weather context and the "town is still there" moment.

Watch for weather fronts rolling in off the Adriatic (they come fast from the west), street lamps flickering on around half past eight in summer, and the feast-day fireworks on 16 September — Sveta Eufemija's nameday, the biggest night on Rovinj's calendar.

Practical notes

  • Time zone: Rovinj is CET (UTC+1) in winter and CEST (UTC+2) from late March to late October.
  • Sunrise and sunset: in June, sunrise is around 5:15am and sunset around 9pm; in December, roughly 7:40am and 4:25pm.
  • Stream outages: if a feed goes dark, it's usually a network or power issue at the camera, not on our end — most are restored within a few hours.
  • Official forecast: for weather rather than "right now", check the Croatian Meteorological Service (DHMZ) 7-day forecast for Rovinj.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see Rovinj live right now?

Yes. Six live webcams cover the Old Town panorama, the main square from three angles (including Balbi's Arch and the view from Veliki Mol), and Borik Beach. All are publicly viewable on this page.

What time is best to watch the Rovinj webcams?

It depends on the view. For the main square and promenade, the late afternoon through sunset shows the town at its most alive. For the Old Town panorama, the hour before sunset gives the best light. For quiet, empty frames, look an hour after sunrise.

Do the Rovinj webcams work at night?

The main square, promenade and Balbi's Arch cameras have decent low-light performance thanks to street lighting. The Borik Beach and panorama cams are essentially dark after sunset.

Are the Rovinj webcams free to watch?

Yes. They are provided free by WhatsUpCams and carry no paywall.
