Monte, also known by its Italian name Baluota, is the only beach directly inside Rovinj's Old Town — a small rocky and pebble shore running roughly 150 metres along the western walls of the peninsula, at the foot of the Church of St. Euphemia. The visual signature is the line of vaulted stone arches that support the houses above and form the back wall of the bathing area.

The bathing surface is mostly limestone platforms wave-flattened over centuries, with stone steps cut into the rock for water access and a few small concrete sunbathing decks for comfort. The water drops off fast — it's deep right at the edge — which makes Monte well suited to swimmers and snorkellers, less so to small children. There's no sand and very little pebble.

The beach faces west, so it gets full afternoon sun and is one of the best places in town for the sunset. On still summer evenings the light hits the bell tower above and the water turns pink and gold; people swim well after dark. Dolphins occasionally pass offshore. The flip side: when the maestral picks up in the afternoon, the sea here gets choppy quickly.

Facilities are minimal — a nearby bar covers drinks and snacks, but there are no rented loungers, no umbrellas and no lifeguard. What you get instead is location. Monte is a five-minute walk from the main square (Trg Maršala Tita) and the harbour, which makes it the easiest swim stop in town between sightseeing and lunch. For a beach with full facilities, walk south fifteen minutes to Mulini or Lone Bay in the Punta Corrente forest park.
