The Weekend Bike & Gourmet Tour is one of Rovinj's most beloved events, combining recreational cycling with the irresistible flavors of Istrian cuisine. Held twice a year (spring and autumn), this two-day adventure takes riders on a journey through the rolling hills, coastal paths, and olive groves surrounding Rovinj and the neighboring town of Bale, covering approximately 105 km across two days.
Two itineraries cater to different fitness levels: the Sport route (111 km) for more experienced cyclists, and the Hobby route (82 km) for casual riders. Each itinerary is split into two thematic trails — the Mare trail follows the coastline with stops for fresh seafood and seaside delicacies, while the Monti trail heads inland through Istria's rustic interior, stopping at family farms and konobas for truffles, prosciutto, and local wines. The gourmet breaks are the real highlight: think Istrian brunch spreads, olive oil tastings, and elaborate picnics under ancient oak trees.
The entry fee (from EUR 53 for the full two-day program, or EUR 28 for a single day) includes all meals and drinks at the gourmet stops, a professional guide, an accompanying support vehicle, and a cycling map. Mountain bikes, trekking bikes, and e-bikes are all welcome, and electric bicycle rentals are available for an additional fee. The pace is relaxed and social — this is not a race, but a celebration of Istria's landscape and gastronomy.
Whether you're a cycling enthusiast or a food lover looking for a unique way to explore the Rovinj countryside, this event delivers an unforgettable weekend. Registration typically fills up fast, so book early through the Rovinj Tourism Board. Bring your appetite — and your camera.
