Camping Amarin sits on the north side of Rovinj bay, and the thing that sells it is visible from most of the site: Rovinj's old town, bell tower and all, sitting on the water directly across the bay. Other campsites near Rovinj are closer to town. None of them look at it like this.

It is a 9-hectare, 4-star site sharing its grounds with the Family Hotel Amarin, taking up to 2,000 guests. That makes it big and busy in August — worth knowing before you book if what you picture is a quiet pine grove.

The beach and the pools

The main beach is Blue Flag rated and runs from rocky to pebbled to paved concrete platforms, which is normal for this coast — Istria does not do wide sand. Pitches sit as close as 50 metres from the water.

The pool complex is the other half of the appeal: three outdoor pools right above the sea with a bar alongside, a diving board, a spray park for small children, and an indoor pool with massage jets for the week the bura blows and nobody wants to swim outside.

Where you sleep

  • Pitches — 80–100 m², partially shaded, with electricity, water and drainage hook-ups. Bring your own tent, caravan or motorhome.
  • Mobile homes — fully equipped, each with a private terrace. The default choice if you want the campsite without the setup.
  • Glamping tents — 20 of them, for arriving with a suitcase rather than a roof box.

Rates swing hard between June and August, and the sea-view rows go first. Check live prices and availability for your dates rather than trusting any number you read in a guide, including ours.

Eating, drinking and shopping

Three restaurants: Lovor for the grill, Basilico for pizza and pasta, and Lumina. Add the Maistralon beer garden and Rosemary Bread & Deli in the central area, plus bars by the sea and at the pools. There is a supermarket on site, an ATM, parking and EV charging — you can arrive and not drive again until you leave.

With kids

This is the campsite's strongest suit. The Ultramarine Kids Club runs an entertainment programme, there are playgrounds and sports courts across the site, and the spray park handles the age group that is not swimming yet. Sailing and windsurfing schools take the older ones, and you can hire kayaks, canoes and pedal boats by the hour.

With a dog

Dogs are welcome for an extra nightly charge. Amarin goes further than most: there is a dedicated dog beach, dog showers and a grooming service. If you are travelling with a dog, our guide to dog beaches around Rovinj covers where else they can swim.

Getting into Rovinj

The town centre is 4 km away — a short drive, a pleasant cycle, or the taxi boat that runs across the bay in season and is by far the nicest way to arrive. Parking in the old town is its own subject; if you plan to drive in, read where to park in Rovinj first.

Season and booking

Amarin runs from 2 April to 8 November 2026, a longer season than most Istrian campsites, which makes it a real option in May and late September when the site is calm and the water is still warm. July and August book out months ahead, particularly the mobile homes and anything with a view.

Who it suits

Families who want pools, a kids club and a view, and who do not mind a large site with a lot going on. If you want quiet pine woods and a small campsite, look at Porton Biondi instead; if you want to walk into town in ten minutes, Porton Biondi is nearer. For naturist camping, that is Valalta.
