Porton Biondi — now branded Porton Nature Hideouts — wins on one thing so decisively that it barely needs a second argument: you can walk into Rovinj's old town in about ten minutes. Every other campsite here needs a car, a bike or a boat.

It is a terraced, pine-covered slope just north of the centre, above Porton Biondi beach, with the historic centre and harbour in view across the bay. At around 1,200 guests it is a fraction of the size of the Maistra camps, and it feels it.

The beach and the setting

Porton Biondi beach is a few steps below the site — a long stretch of rock and pebble shaded by pines, and one of the most-used swimming spots by people who actually live in Rovinj. The campsite terraces climb the hill behind it, so most pitches sit under real shade, which matters in July far more than any facility list.

There is a seasonal outdoor pool, though the sea is the point here.

Where you sleep

  • Pitches spread across the terraces under the pines, most of them properly shaded.
  • Mobile homes across the hillside, some of the newer ones with private heated pools on their own decks.

Eating and shopping

The on-site Natura restaurant does Mediterranean and Istrian cooking, and there is a beach bar, a snack bar, a mini-market and a bakery. But the real answer is that the whole of Rovinj's restaurant scene is a walk away — see where to eat in Rovinj.

With kids and dogs

There is no big kids club or animation programme; this is a quieter, simpler site. Pets are welcome on most pitches and in many mobile homes, which is not true everywhere in Rovinj — Val Saline and Valalta both refuse dogs outright.

Getting into Rovinj

On foot, in about ten minutes, along the water. That is the entire section. If you drive in anyway, where to park in Rovinj will save you an argument.

Who it suits

Anyone whose ideal evening is dinner in the old town and a walk back, rather than a shuttle or a designated driver. Couples, small families, and campers who would rather have the town than the water park. If you want pools, animation and a kids club, you want Polari or Amarin instead.
