The Eufemia Festival is Rovinj’s premier town celebration, named after the town’s patron saint, St. Euphemia, whose church tower crowns the old town skyline. Held on the first weekend of September, this free two-day festival fills the waterfront promenade and town squares with live music, cultural performances and some of the finest food Istria has to offer.
The music programme features a diverse lineup across multiple stages — from Croatian pop headliners and rock bands to brass ensembles, jazz combos and traditional folk groups. Past editions have hosted major Croatian acts like Magazin and Psihomodo Pop, drawing large crowds to the Trg Maršala Tita square and the harbour area. Smaller stages tucked into the old town’s piazzas offer more intimate acoustic performances.
A highlight of the festival is the traditional parade through the city centre, featuring folklore ensembles and the popular Roxanne dance company. The procession winds through the narrow streets before performances begin on the main square. Meanwhile, food stalls along the promenade serve Istrian specialties — fresh truffles, handmade fuži pasta, grilled fish and local olive oils paired with Malvasia and Teran wines.
The Eufemia Festival marks the end of the summer season in style and is free and open to all visitors. It’s one of the best times to experience Rovinj’s community spirit, enjoy warm September weather and taste the culinary riches of Istria in one vibrant weekend.
