In late June 2026, Rovinj opened something a little different — a new water-themed park set between the Punta Corrente forest park and Cuvi. It's free, but set your expectations first: it's a calm, green, educational park, not a splash park to get soaked in. It's the kind of place worth a stop if you're already nearby — biking past, or coming up from the beach — rather than one you'd cross town for. Here's what it is, and, more usefully, how to actually get there.

What the H2O park is

The park's layout traces the shape of a water molecule — two hydrogen "atoms" and one oxygen, picked out as rounded grassy mounds linked by winding paths. Between them you'll find a red circular amphitheatre, picnic circles, and the heart of it: hands-on water-education stations — Archimedes screws, hand pumps and water wheels where children can play with moving water and see how it works. Info totems dotted around explain the park's green side; one even counts the cubic metres of rainwater the park collects and reuses (nearly 20,000 m³). It's a European-funded green project — a small showcase for sustainable water and climate-friendly landscaping — so the emphasis is learning-through-play, not water slides.

Good to know before you go

The park is free, and open daily (roughly 7am to 9pm). Two honest caveats. The trees were only just planted, so there is very little shade — in summer, go early in the morning or in the evening and skip the midday heat. And it is genuinely not a get-wet park, so don't promise the kids a soaking; the water here is for playing with and learning from, not splashing about in.

Getting there

This is the part worth planning. There is no parking at the park itself. The nearest car park is at Monvi, a 5–10 minute walk away — but you share it with everyone visiting the very popular Punta Corrente forest park, so it fills up fast. In peak season, arrive early in the morning; much after 10am it is nearly impossible to find a space. Honestly, the park is easiest reached by bike, or on foot if you are staying nearby — Hotel Monte Mulini, Hotel Lone or Hotel Eden are all within walking distance, as is private accommodation in Centener. And if you are already on the beach between Škaraba and Cuvi, a narrow path leads up to the park from the coast near Restaurant Grote.

Make a morning of it

The H2O park sits in the green, southern corner of Rovinj, so it pairs naturally with a swim at Škaraba or Cuvi beach, or a wander through the Punta Corrente (Zlatni rt) forest park right next door. Together they make an easy, mostly-free family morning — before the sun, and the parking, get difficult.
